Mahalo Nui E Ke Kumu

Much gratitude and appreciation to our Kumu Hula Leihi’ilani Kirkpatrick of Kaua’i who has shared so generously of the wisdom and knowledge that comes from her hula lineage. Mahalo nui for guiding and teaching us the culture and dance that is rooted in aloha.

Two snapshots of recent huaka’i (excursions):

Kumu has taught us a new oli (chant) to add to our repertoire:

Waiwai Ka Wā Mua

(Composed by Kumu Hula Leihi’ilani Kirkpatrick and edited by Kamealoha Patrick-Soloman Hanohano-Smith, 2014)

Waiwai Ka wā mua
Malu ka lau ki
Mālama (ka) no’eau kūpuna
Kōhi i kai uli
